Bioparc: Spain’s Best Zoos (Valencia & Fuengirola 2026)

If you are traveling to Spain with kids (or just love animals), a visit to a Bioparc is an experience you won't easily forget. These are not traditional zoos. They are built on the concept of “zoo-immersion”, meaning fences and cages are hidden by rivers, rocks, and bridges. You literally feel like you are walking right in the middle of the animals' natural habitats!

Spain has two of these amazing parks, one in Valencia and one on the Costa del Sol (Fuengirola). Because they are extremely popular, especially on weekends and school holidays, we highly recommend buying tickets in advance to skip the queue at the entrance.

1. Bioparc Valencia (A Journey to Africa)

Bioparc Valencia is recognized as one of the best zoos in the world. It focuses exclusively on the African continent. You can stroll through Madagascar with lemurs jumping around you, see gorillas in the deep jungle, and observe lions, giraffes, and rhinos on the savanna.

2. Bioparc Fuengirola (Málaga / Costa del Sol)

Are you laying on the beach in Málaga, Marbella, or Torremolinos? Then Bioparc Fuengirola is just a short trip away (and you can easily take the local train right to the door!). This park focuses on the tropical forests of Asia, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific islands. It is especially famous for its rare Sumatran tigers and impressive jungle temples.
